Position Summary

The Grant Accountant is tasked with managing grant related pre and post award activities including but not limited to compliance, budget and expense analysis, financial reporting, and assisting with various accounting duties, all in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Description

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Grant Development
    • Prepare and revise budgets for grants, both new and renewal
    • Enter proposed budgets on the appropriate grant website or submit to the Grants Team for entry
    • Set up appropriate worksheets to track grant budget/expenses/match once grant has been awarded
  • Grant Management
    • Prepare and submit billings as required by each grant
    • Scan all support documents and billing invoices for each grant billing, saving them to the grant file on the Resource Development drive and grant notebook
    • Monitor grant activity to ensure that grant funds are used completely and appropriately in collaboration with program director
    • Prepare, review, or direct all accounting entries (transactions and journals) for grants
    • Monitor aging of grant billings and enlist assistance of Chief Financial Officer in collection efforts as needed
    • Prepare all applicable fiscal reports as required to be submitted with program reports
    • Maintain the staff roster including, but not limited to, personnel changes, wage and benefit changes, and grant funding changes
  • Participate in all grant audits
  • Maintain time and effort and match requirements for assigned grants
  • Always adheres to Service Excellence standards.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, CARF standards and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
