Senior Buyer

Supports the procurement process by sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing of assigned commodities and services to ensure that company operational needs are met, while considering quality, price, and on time delivery.

Responsibilities
-Supplier Management
-Develops, updates, and implements effective sourcing strategies to ensure a continuous supply of quality, competitively priced materials and services.
-Plans, sources, and negotiates purchases for raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services in accordance with departmental policies and procedures ensuring that the procurement activities align with the company's goals and objectives.
-Issues purchase orders to suppliers and coordinates to ensure scheduled receipt to support company manufacturing objectives.
-Coordinates with suppliers to manage discrepant material.
-Conducts searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluates their capabilities, assesses risk, and qualifies as necessary.
-Manages and maintains relationships with existing suppliers, monitoring their performance and quality, and tracking purchases.
•In-house Collaboration
-Works with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to resolve supplier issues.
-Understands ERP process and works with Planning to ensure production and inventory control requirements align with purchasing deliverables.
-Assists other departments with problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase order, delivered quantity, quality and/or price.
•Logistics
-Assures best value domestic and international freight selection as it applies to assigned purchase orders (Inbound).
•Other
-Reports department KPIs monthly.
-Assists with reviewing and updating procurement policies and procedures.
-Identifies cost savings opportunities and assists in achieving yearly cost reduction targets set by management.
-Reviews and modifies demand forecasts for inventory items and reporting tools.
-Ensures ERP accuracy, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data, etc.
-Always maintains confidentiality and projects a professional image.
-Assists with related special projects, as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor’s degree in business, preferred, plus 3-4+ years’ purchasing related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. (Required)
•Experience working in any manufacturing environment (Required)
•Proven and extensive experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, (Required), preferably in a senior capacity.
* Experience negotiating contracts, generating quotes, supplier management and finding new suppliers, (Required).
* Experience conducting audits and scorecards; and keeping suppliers on time and with quality delivery. (Required)
•Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or ERP systems (Required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Demonstrated knowledge of ISO, FDA / USDA regulations as it applies to import logistics
•Medical device/pharmaceutical industry experience
•Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and supplier management.
•Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
•Experience in vendor management and cost savings initiatives.
