Shift Hours:
Day: 6:30am-3:00pm
Swing: 2:30pm-11pm
Noc: 10:30pm-7am
 
*Up to $2.00 per hour in shift differential 
 
A Caregiver or CNA fulfills the need of the resident’s direct care, both medical and non-medical. This position assists residents with activities of daily living: take vital signs, bed changes, bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, toileting, feeding, and answering call lights. Caregiver or CNA works in accordance with the Charge Nurse’s instructions. This position provides ample room for growth to those who are interested.
 
Essential Job Functions:

  • Taking vital signs
  • Assist residents in and out of their beds
  • Assist residents with walking
  • Answer call lights
  • Make beds
  • Deliver messages
  • Monitoring residents and reporting changes
  • Provide residents hygiene
  • Feeding residents
  • Works in accordance with Charge Nurses’/CMAs, instructions 
  • Reports any changes of residents’ condition, unusual occurrences and/or other concerns to Charge Nurse.
  • Years/Months of Experience:
  • Preferred at least one year of experience but will train the right candidate, with no experience, on-site.

Knowledge / Mental / Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge of laundry, housekeeping and dietary schedules. Ability to work with these departments to schedule for the welfare of the resident.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency, including fire rescue and evacuation and nursing procedures and be able to stay calm in stressful situations.
  • Experience working with the geriatric population.
  • Experience in resident transfers.
  • Experience in a long-term care facility or CCRC practices strongly preferred.
  • Experience in providing outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to make quick, clear judgments based on facts in calm manner with common sense and communicate issues with sensitivity to different communication styles and personalities.
  • Ability to read care plans, blood pressure equipment, utilization of stethoscope and thermometers.
  • Knowledge/familiarity of universal precautions, infection control practices, and Hazard Communications.

 

Physical Activities of the Position:

  • Normally works 8 hours per shift (sitting 1 hour, standing 4 hours, and walking 3 hours), however, this may be subject to change for business or care purposes. Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak periods.
  • Able to lift assist medium (21-50 pounds) and heavy (51-100 pounds).
  • Push wheelchair or geriatric chair 100 pounds +
  • Position and change residents in bed and in chairs.

Years/Months of Experience:

A minimum of one year of experience as a caregiver or CNA in a long-term care facility or CCRC is required for this position. We train all of our staff within.
