The Crisis Stabilization Clinician provides clinical support and direction to the crisis stabilization program as well as supervision to crisis stabilization counselors who provide direct mental health care to non-hospitalized individuals (4 and up) experiencing a mental health crisis that may put their current community living situation at risk.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to individuals experiencing an acute crisis of a psychiatric nature.
  • Provide normative environments with a high assurance of safety and security for crisis intervention.
  • Complete registration for Crisis Participants through Magellan or other insurance panels.
  • Develop diagnostic intake assessments prior to entry to the program.
  • Collaborate with Counselor to ensure approval for eligibility, accurate diagnosis, and make recommendations for treatment planning.
  • Mobilize the resources of the community support system, family members, and others for ongoing maintenance, and rehabilitation.
  • Be available for 24-Hour Emergency Response and participate in On-Call Crisis.
  • Explore, manage and actively seek growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the QA Specialist and Program Coordinator to support staff development, address concerns and needs and provide feedback regarding clinical professional growth.
  • Communicate with Magellan, Medicaid, Community Service Boards, and/or other professionals or regulating authorities regarding problems in service provision or eligibility status.
  • Provide Clinical Supervision to Counselors according to prospective board licensure requirements if eligible to provide clinical supervision.
  • Participate in program development activities or committees as assigned by Director of Regional Programs.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships within community.
  • Others duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, their symptoms, treatment and social implications in relation to participant and family.
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate psychological problems.
  • Ability to provide therapeutic counseling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid driving license.
  • Provide and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Own and operate an insurable and registered vehicle.
  • Provide services in various neighborhoods, including low socio-economic communities.
  • Have access to and ability to use a computer, printer, internet services, flash drive and other necessary items and equipment to produce electronic program documentation/paper work.
  • Be able and willing to operate a 15 passenger van.

Educations and Specifications
Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP): LCSW, LCP, LPC, Supervisee or Resident.

Must also have a minimum of three years experience providing direct services to individuals with a mental health diagnosis.

Supervisory experience is preferred.
