General Summary: The Part-Time Program Coordinator is a Full-Time day position, with requirements to be available to the evening and weekend program, that assists both the Senior Director of Nurse Education and the Nurse Education Department Chair by providing management and academic coordination of the Part-Time (evening/weekend) Nursing program option. The Part-Time Program Coordinator is expected to work in collaboration with the Full-Time Program Coordinator to ensure curricular consistency between the two programs. The Part-Time Program Coordinator is expected to exhibit initiative, enthusiasm, and teamwork in accomplishing the responsibilities of the position. These duties are performed in the fall and spring semesters, and required availability throughout the summer. The position would include two reassigned times per semester and stipends for duties that must be performed outside of the 10-month contract including summer.
The Part-Time program Coordinator is a creative, knowledgeable, and flexible individual who provides classroom, simulation laboratory, and/or clinical instruction in pediatric, medical/surgical, and/or mental health nursing for assigned courses in the nursing program. The faculty work with the program administrator and other faculty in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program and participates in college service as well as student advisement. The faculty is committed to inclusive excellence, equity, diversity, and continuous professional improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinator Functions:
- Provide management and academic coordination of the Part-Time Nursing program option.
- Schedule and chair program and team meetings for the Part-Time Nursing Program option.
- Collaborate with course coordinators to organize, develop, and schedule student experiences in the Part-Time Nursing Program option.
- Provide assistance to the Senior Director of Nurse Education and the Nurse Education Department Chair, by contributing expertise in the evaluation of adjunct faculty and their course materials.
- Collaborate with the course coordinators to recruit, schedule, orient, and mentor Part-Time Program option adjunct faculty.
- Collaborate with student support areas, i.e., Tutoring, Enrollment, Testing, Advising, and other departments as needed.
- Assist with the planning and conducting of program orientation for Part-Time Program option faculty.
- Evaluate clinical agencies with respect to appropriateness of placement of students in the Part-Time Program option.
- Serve as a liaison for external agencies.
- Assist the Senior Director of Nurse Education and the Nurse Education Department Chair in maintaining compliance with all accreditation and Board of Registration in Nursing regulatory requirements governing operation of the Nursing Education Program.
- Participate in college recruitment activities, i.e., open houses, visit high schools, and industry as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the Nurse Education Department Chair in the resolution of Part-Time program option, faculty, or student concerns.
- Participates as Nursing Program representative on college FSA committees.
- Other duties within the program/department as needed or as assigned.
Faculty Functions:
- Classroom (didactic) instruction involves sessions which last up to three hours for a group of up to 32 students. This requires preparation of materials, standing, conducting lecture/discussion using a variety of instructional materials and technologies, and effective exam question development, administration, and evaluation of assessments using ExamSoft. This may include: ExamSoft training, submitting questions through ExamSoft, and tagging exam questions.
- Laboratory instruction includes didactic presentations, demonstrations, use of simulation technology and working knowledge of providing student simulations, skill remediation, and evaluation of skill competence. Laboratory sessions are typically two to four hours for each session. Lab instruction may also include preparation of equipment and materials for labs as well as securing/putting away equipment after the conclusion of the lab.
- Clinical instruction for a group of up to 8 students is provided in institutional or community settings one or two days per week depending on the clinical course. Clinical instruction involves selecting appropriate client assignments, supervising, and instructing students as they provide client care during the clinical day. Pre and post conferences are conducted each day. Clinical instruction includes ongoing and summative evaluation of student progress during the clinical experience. The instructor is typically on his/her feet and walking for most of the clinical day, which can be up to 8 hours long.
- Collaborate with program faculty in planning, implementation, and evaluation of student experiences.
- Collaborate with agency personnel in planning and implementing student experiences.
- Provide ongoing advising with assigned students for the purpose of course and program decisions.
- Post and conduct office hours in his/her office space as required by Article XII of the MCCC Agreement.
- Implement all nursing program policies as well as applicable college policies.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the program in compliance with appropriate regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
- Participate fully in department, division, and college meetings.
- Participate in college service as required by Article XII of the MCCC Agreement.
- Maintain currency in nursing and nursing education through participation in continuing education.
- Orient new part-time faculty to course and program requirements.
- Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Higher Education Coordinating Council and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association. Association.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing by date of hire.
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of two years full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years at date of hire.
- Compliance with of Massachusetts Board of Regulations in Nursing 244 CMR 6.04(2)(b).
- Experience with equity-minded work and working with individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, and veterans, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nursing education.
- Understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education.
- Experience in pediatric nursing preferred
- Advanced practice (CNE) certification.
- Membership in professional organizations.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a variety of alternative instructional methodologies and assessment strategies.

Please note, the faculty rank of Assistant Professor may be subject to change in accordance with Article XVII of the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
