Job Summary

The Information Technology Specialist supports curriculum delivery by implementing software solutions, enhancing the efficiency of electronic platforms, and developing internal applications or automations used by the college. The Information Technology Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Operations.

  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to individuals with limited technical knowledge or experience.
  5. Ability to perform requirements gathering to effectively document and clarify project specifications.
  6. Ability to translate design specifications into functioning software solutions.
  7. Must be able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
  8. Must be able to manage workload and meet deadlines and challenges in a professional manner.
  9. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office setting.
  10. Ability to assess/evaluate off-the-shelf software and provide educated recommendations for potential implementation.
  11. Strong understanding of Django and .NET frameworks.
  12. Advanced knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries, and database design in MySQL or MariaDB.
  13. Proficient understanding of using various APIs to facilitate data retrieval in scripts, applications, or other automations.
  14. Comprehensive knowledge on web-related technologies:
  • HTML and CSS
  • XML and JSON
Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including but not limited to Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Power BI.Familiarity with SDLC methodologies including: Waterfall, Agile, and Iterative.Committed to working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.Required Qualifications
  1. Education: Required – BS in Information Technology or Computer Science. Any combination of education, training, or experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  2. Experience: Preferred minimum Two to three years of full stack software development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Familiar with API access/development preferred.
  2. Experience in developing software solutions under Agile preferred.
  3. Familiarity with Microsoft PowerApps, Power Automate, and SharePoint.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide support to faculty, staff, and students with usage of curricular software, including but not limited to, eValue, T-Res, Elentra and ExamSoft, Microsoft 365, including Teams, and Zoom.
  2. Ability to carry software solutions through the software development life cycle (SDLC). This includes the ability to work independently and or contribute as a team member to any of the following:
  • Feasibility study
  • Requirements gathering and analyzing (designing/prototyping)
  • Developing/building (write clean, concise, and efficient code)
  • Testing
  • Implementing
Work collaboratively with college administration, faculty, staff, IT, and other University departments to assist in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing college IT solutions.Define and design software training procedures and programs.Maintain and support good operation as well as recommend continuous improvement of college database, software, and platforms.Other duties as assigned.Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some weekends.

Expected Pay Scale

Minimum: $24.00, Maximum: $28.00

Duties of the Information Technology Specialist are normally performed in a typical office setting. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate due to telephone calls, office equipment, and normal student traffic.
