Utilities Data Analyst II

This is a responsible, highly skilled analyst role focused on assimilating, compiling, and analyzing power plant technical data. The position requires performing mathematical tasks and using various software tools to prepare budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking of O&M and capital projects. Reporting to the Power Production Projects Coordinator, this role supports the three plant sites: McIntosh, Larsen, and Winston. The position assists Workforce management staff, planners, maintenance coordinators, and engineers with project tracking and reporting. Quality of work is evaluated through meetings, reports, and desired outcomes, with considerable independent judgment expected to develop data analysis reports for outages and daily cost tracking with general instructions given by a staff working at an electric production plant.
Responsibilities:
- Forecasts and analyzes key financial data for outage projects and daily maintenance for the workforce management division of Production.
- Prepares and manages daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and ad-hoc reports, projections, and analyses accurately and efficiently.
- Performs advanced research and compiles data for reports using computerized information systems.
- Oversees invoice payments for Workforce Management and ensures compliance with contracts.
- Serves as backup administrator for the Production Department website, ensuring accurate posting and maintaining reports for compliance posting.
- Monitors the Workforce Management budget and tracks expenses related to outage projects, O&M, and capital, providing regular reports to management.
- Assists with report writing or data analysis for the Workforce Management team.
- Skilled in Maximo software to maintain the Asset management for three plant sites.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes rules on p-card and purchase order management.
- Assists planners, engineers, and maintenance coordinators with vendor contact and the bid process for obtaining quotes.
- May be required to participate and/or facilitate training to support departmental or City initiatives and requirements.
- May be required to work alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
- Position designated as Mission Critical by Department.
- Performs related work as required.
- Prepares T-forms, budget transfers, journal entries, and check requests as needed.
- Assists other staff members on projects as required.
- Prepares requisitions and change orders for purchases and payment of invoices and maintains vendor files.
- Prepares and organizes records to be sent to Records Retention.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Statistics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience forecasting and tracking costs for an electric power plant.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.
Special Requirements:- Must possess and maintain a valid telephone number.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in Maximo software for generating reports and managing data.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting methods and data analysis.
- Ability to create, manage, extract, combine, manipulate, format, organize, and report from large data files using Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of proper office practices, business ethics, and technical information.
- Skill in performing technical computations, compiling data, and performing analysis.
- Ability to learn and understand the techniques and procedures of utility benchmarking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting data and composing reports.
- Ability to maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, peers, supervisor, and other employees and customers.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Sedentary work requiring walking or standing occasionally, exerting up to 10 pounds of force regularly, and routine keyboard operations.
- May require wearing safety gear when visiting different plant areas.
- The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards.
- Requires normal visual acuity, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, and depth perception.
