POSITION TITLE: Clinician – Lansing Health Center

LOCATION: Lansing

STATUS: Part Time, Exempt

SCHEDULE: 3 days per week

Clinic Hours:

  1. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9am to 5pm
  2. Thursday, Friday: 8am to 4pm

Wage: $62,570 per year

Position Description

Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge in gynecological/family planning medical diagnosis and treatment, along with skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to deliver high quality patient care in support of the “Care, No Matter What” mission. Assess patient’s needs, conducts appropriate exams, and responds to patient questions. This staff person will fully embody a commitment to race equity; evidenced in all interactions with PPMI colleagues and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide gynecologic/family planning exams, including abortion follow up exams, and conduct appropriate testing.
  2. Assess patient’s contraceptive needs and prescribe/dispense medications and contraceptive devices as appropriate and allowed by license.
  3. Evaluate, plan and implement patient treatment plans. May include referring abnormal conditions to outside providers for care that is outside of PPMI’s scope of practice.
  4. Diagnose and treat sexually transmitted/gynecologic infections.
  5. Perform microscopy and interpret laboratory test results and order additional tests/procedures as necessary.
  6. Record, review, and interpret patient medical and social histories and symptoms.
  7. Request/review pertinent patient medical records.
  8. Provide After-Hours telephone triage for PP patients.
  9. Provide comprehensive education to patients including: contraception, reproductive health, pregnancy options, and abortion education.
  10. Respond to patient concerns in person and via phone.
  11. Regularly conduct chart audits.
  12. Counsel patients on healthy lifestyle including weight loss tips, nutrition and exercise, smoking cessation.
  13. Act as a resource for ancillary staff.
  14. Maintain organization and governmental agency quality control standards.
  15. Provide in-service education to staff and act as a clinic medical resource for staff.
  16. May participate in affiliate research projects as directed.
  17. Remain current on PPFA protocols and requirements for medical care delivery.
  18. Travel to other health centers within defined region on occasion.
  19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  1. Minimum Degree Required: Master’s Degree
  2. Required Disciplines: Physician’s Assistant, Nurse-Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife.
  3. Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  4. Knowledge of advanced concepts, practices and procedures of medical terminology and medical record documentation.
