Salary Range: $49,646 - $60,000 - annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Work Location: This position is expected to be on-site, especially during weekly Campus Connections programming and outreach events. Must be available to work evenings (Campus Connections is on Thursday evenings 3 pm-9 pm and multiple days during the Summer), some Saturdays, and scheduled events.

Summary

This is a dual role that will support both Campus Connections and the Digital Citizenship and Civics Leadership project.

Campus Connections is an innovative university-based mentoring program within the College of Education targeting at-promise youth (ages 10-18), that prioritizes inclusion of youth from communities who have historically experienced social inequity and oppression. The Campus Connections role is responsible for the daily operations of the Campus Connections Program. The position will oversee the delivery of the CC program each week which includes pairing undergraduate mentors with youth in local school districts. The project manager will recruit undergraduate mentors and graduate counselors-in-training. They will coordinate with the local school districts for transportation to and from the UCCS campus. Furthermore, they will coordinate with faculty and staff to continue to seek community funding and resources to support the CC program and other items needed for the youth such as clothing, school supplies, etc. Finally, they will disseminate data about the program and continue to seek future partners to support CC.

The Digital Citizenship and Civics Leadership (DCCL) project will enhance civic engagement skills, civic attitudes, behaviors, political and civic knowledge, political behavior, and digital citizenship awareness for students (K-12 and college level) in the Pikes Peak Region. This role will assist the leadership team in effectively administering the DCCL project components, such as generating reports, supporting curriculum development, tracking progress, and supporting service-learning projects. Day-to-day operations include coordinating multiple project activities across the campus, scheduling and planning for summer program and other activities, purchasing grant materials, assisting in the organization and creation of curriculum, and supporting the generation of reports. The project manager will be responsible for maintaining a purchase card, assisting in supervising student employees, and periodically staffing project events.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Campus Connections Program Planning and Execution

  • Day-to-day operation of the Campus Connections program, including the development and execution of processes consistent with the College of Education and DCCL project strategies
  • Work collaboratively with different departments/programs on campus and in the community to support the Campus Connections program (e.g. transportation, dining, events, wellness center, campus security, pre-collegiate, school districts, families, students, family development center, etc.)
  • Support financial management, billing, invoicing, and budgeting including reports to stakeholders and grant coordinators. Inventory and supply management for the program
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
  • Exercise organizational skills related to data, time management, and managing student employees
  • Outreach, recruitment and intake of university student mentors, youth mentees and their families, and local school districts including school counselors
  • Coordinate the child and adult care food program (CACFP) for snack and meal reimbursement
  • Work collaboratively with program faculty directors and grant coordinators on research duties including data collection, statistical software and analysis, and program outcomes

Project/Activities Planning and Execution

  • In collaboration with project PIs, execute project plans, timelines, and deliverables - including meetings, logistics, communication, and delivering collateral materials
  • Collaborate with UCCS Pre-Collegiate Programs to administer new summer programming
  • Coordinate project activities across K-12 schools and the UCCS campus to ensure successful execution of civics education programming
  • Prepare and process reports, financial statements, and final reports for the grant PIs to review and submit

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the program in a professional, welcoming manner and communicate information to potential stakeholders and existing faculty, staff, and partners
  • Serve as a point of contact for school districts and other stakeholders involved in the grant project
  • Facilitate communication between educators, administrators, and community partners to support student outcomes in civics education

Program Evaluation and Assessment

  • Support the collection and analysis of data related to student outcomes in civics education for both K-12 and higher education participants
  • Collaborate with evaluation teams to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements

Budget and Resource Management

  • Facilitate grant writing and financial management
  • Develop the grant budget and ensure funds are allocated appropriately for program needs, including materials, training, and personnel
  • Procure resources, such as educational materials and technology, to support civics education initiatives

Curriculum Development and Alignment

  • Work with faculty to support the creation of civics education curricula; specifically, assist project PIs with programming and planning the Civics Education Faculty Fellows program in the summer

Professional Development and Training

  • Support the project PIs in organizing and facilitating professional development workshops for K-12 educators and higher education faculty involved in the grant project
  • Provide ongoing support and training for educators to enhance the delivery of civics education content

Outreach, Marketing, and Public Relations

  • Promote the civics education program through creation of outreach materials, including public presentations, newsletters, websites, and social media

Student Supervision

  • 8 Students in year 1; 6 students in year 2; ongoing supervision of Campus Connections graduate assistants (4) each semester

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required

Experience

  • To qualify for the position applicants must have experience working with high school students, first generation students, and undergraduate college students, outreach, and/or postsecondary education access and/or career exploration programming.
  • Experience with logistics and event coordination is required.
  • Applicants must have experience in supporting and coordinating youth-focused programs, working with non-profit organizations, recruitment, community outreach, fundraising, research data collection and analysis, grant writing and management.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds is a minimum qualification.
  • To qualify for the position applicants must also have experience communicating with pre-collegiate staff.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
  • Experience in educational programming for middle school and high school students (e.g. after-school programs, AVID, Gear-up, Upward Bound, Trio programs, etc.) is a must have qualification.
  • Experience with program management, laws and regulations for working with minors is required.

Special Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable
  • Experience working with grant-funded programs or non-profit organizations is highly desirable
