Humana IT Enterprise Observability engineering team is looking for a well-versed and experienced Senior Software Engineer-Splunk. As a Senior Engineer, you should be proficient and hands-on within Splunk AWS; editing and maintaining Splunk configuration files and apps. You will provide support for the full system engineering life-cycle, handle troubleshooting, work with vendors on open requests/tickets, and work in an Agile environment with enterprise change management/control systems. Our engineers serve as experts for metrics, events, logs, and traces solutions that meet our enterprise needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support and improve the company’s Splunk installation.
  2. Maintain Splunk configuration files and apps.
  3. Provide support for the full system engineering life-cycle.
  4. Ensure software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
  5. Code solutions and perform unit testing.
  6. Ensure the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces.
  7. Provide engineering and administration in supporting complex and large Splunk environments consisting of search heads, indexers, deployment servers, heavy/universal forwarders, etc.
  8. System performance and optimization.
  9. Collaborate and be the Splunk subject matter expert for Enterprise Observability Splunk Cloud Platform.
  10. Work in partnership with Enterprise Security, Site Reliability Engineering, and IT Operations teams.
  11. Perform troubleshooting, work through complex requirements/solutions, and provide assistance/coaching with the creation of Splunk search queries and dashboards.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associates degree and minimum 7 years of experience as a Splunk Engineer, 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  2. 6+ years of experience administering Splunk in distributed deployments.
  3. Subject Matter Expert in Splunk and AWS Cloud Platforms.
  4. 6+ years of experience in creating Splunk search queries and dashboards.
  5. 4+ years of experience in supporting complex and large Splunk environments.
  6. 4+ years of experience configuring and maintaining the tool in a multi-tenant environment.
  7. 4+ years of experience with Splunk performing systems administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring system performance and availability, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  8. Subject Matter Expert in developing log ingestion and aggregation strategies per Splunk best practices.
  9. Subject Matter Expert at data onboarding activities including routing, parsing, and normalizing events to the Splunk Common Information Model (CIM).
  10. 4+ years of experience with Splunk Common Information Model (CIM) and Enterprise Analytics.
  11. Splunk Certified Core PowerUser.
  12. Splunk Certified Enterprise Admin.
  13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work closely with multiple customers, manage expectations, and track engagement scope.
  14. Must be a self-starter, autonomously prioritize and successfully deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree.
  2. Previously worked in highly regulated industries (Healthcare, Banking, Cybersecurity).

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$104,800 - $144,300 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based upon company and/or individual performance.
