Digital Transformation Consultant (Workflow Standardization)
The Digital Transformation Consultant (Workflow Standardization) will play a pivotal role in streamlining and modernizing our client's IT processes, procedures, and workflows to ensure that IT projects are completed efficiently, effectively, and in a standardized manner. Reporting to the Chief of Staff of the Chief Digital Information Officer, the consultant will assess current workflows, identify areas for optimization, design standardized processes, and implement solutions that improve overall operational efficiency. This position requires a strong background in workflow optimization, process standardization, and experience in driving efficiency within technology operations.
This is a remote position.
Digital Transformation Consultant (Workflow Standardization) Responsibilities
Process Assessment and Optimization:
Collaborate with IT leaders and staff across various departments (Operations, Applications, Infrastructure, Security, Service Desk, PMO) to assess current IT processes, workflows, and inter-team handoffs.
Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement and standardization.
Design and Implementation of Standardized Workflows:
Create standardized end-to-end workflows based on assessments of current processes and feedback from IT teams.
Incorporate industry best practices and customize processes to suit the needs of BMCHS, driving efficient and predictable IT project delivery.
Software and Automation Recommendations:
Research and recommend software solutions, automation tools, and integration improvements to streamline workflows.
Assist in evaluating third-party vendors, selecting relevant tools, and overseeing the implementation of process enhancements.
Documentation and Communication:
Document process maps and workflow designs using tools like Visio, along with user guides for internal communication and future assessments.
Ensure that workflow changes are effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
Implementation and Change Management:
Partner with IT leadership to design and execute a thoughtful change management plan to support the successful rollout of new workflows.
Identify areas requiring additional support during the implementation phase and provide guidance as needed.
Training and Adoption:
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to ensure IT staff understand new workflows and their benefits.
Support ongoing adoption efforts and address challenges or resistance to change.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
Measure the effectiveness of implemented workflows over time and make data-driven adjustments as necessary.
Track ROI for process improvement initiatives to ensure sustainable long-term benefits.
Resource and Project Management:
Oversee the coordination of resources, timelines, and budgets for workflow standardization initiatives, ensuring successful project delivery.
Promote a Culture of Continuous Improvement:
Encourage ongoing process evaluations, feedback loops, and iterative improvements to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the IT department.
Stay Current with Industry Trends:
Monitor emerging trends and technologies in workflow optimization and IT operations to recommend innovative solutions that enhance efficiency.
Digital Transformation Consultant (Workflow Standardization) Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field required.
No certifications are required. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, Agile, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT consulting, project management, or a related field with a focus on workflow standardization and process optimization.
Experience in change management and process improvement initiatives.
Proven ability to support legacy systems and teams during transitions to modern practices.
Strong understanding of IT project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and workflow management best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Proficiency in workflow design and management tools (e.g., Visio, LucidChart, process automation software).
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems and develop effective solutions.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality delivery.
Compensation: $75-$85/hr. (DOE)
