Summary:

The Plant Manager for our Davie Plant is responsible for coordinating the overall production of quality ready mix concrete in the most safe, efficient
and cost-effective manner possible. This includes supervising all employees involved in the production and delivering of the
product at a specific plant location.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Plant Duties:
• Coordinates the opening and closing of plant facilities according to established company procedures and guidelines
• Orders enough raw materials to meet anticipated demands
• Maintains proper inventory control procedures over materials to minimize shrinkage and waste
• Performs required tests on materials to ensure compliance with stated specifications
• Operates batch console to make ready mix concrete according to customer specifications
• Dispatches equipment to customer job sites efficiently and cost effectively
• Ensures plant equipment, building and grounds are kept neat, clean and in good repair
• Ensures all concrete mixer trucks are kept clean and free of concrete build-up throughout the truck
• Ensures the efficient and safe use of personnel to complete all required tasks
• Operates equipment on the plant site as needed
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to plant equipment
• Completes administrative tasks timely and accurately to include cash sales report, delivery tickets, raw material receipts
and other reports as needed/requested
• Responsible for correctly batching all concrete and ensuring that all raw material moistures are within the daily
specification cookouts

 

Interpersonal Responsibilities:
• Maintains communication with drivers and customers to ensure effective utilization of assets and efficient customer
service
• Coordinates the prompt investigation of all on-the-job vehicle accidents and personal injuries that are observed, reported
or which s/he is made aware and completes any necessary follow-up to prevent recurrence
• Informs dispatch on a timely basis of any plant activity, issues or concerns that might impact customer service
• Communicates with support departments (fleet/plant maintenance, technical services, human resources, etc.) on a timely
basis to identify and resolve questions and/or issues
• Ensures company compliance with all company, local, state, and federal environmental policies, procedures and
regulations
• Supervises all plant production employees to include administering all applicable company policies and procedures to
include managing employee work hours in the most cost-effective manner
• Conducts monthly safety meeting with all employees
• Coordinates the training of all production new hires at the site
• Monitors and records daily attendance of all production employees at the site
• Interviews and selects new production employees for open positions

 

Global Responsibilities:
• Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
• This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet
business needs

 

Qualifications:

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Ability to pass company physical required
• Knowledge of operation of a ready-mix/batch plant
• Ready-mix dispatch systems knowledge


Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in concrete production required
• Managerial experience required


Skills/Abilities:
• Effective communication skills, oral, and written
• Proficiency with simple math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (especially
percentages), as well as measurements
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks
• Work independently with minimal supervision

 

Working Conditions:

• Operation within a fast-paced environment
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside
weather conditions
• Noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants,
and laboratories
• Must be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
• Local travel required

 

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with
hands and arms
• Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Must be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground while managing concrete delivery
onsite
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to frequently bend in order to obtain samples from stockpiles or ground, climb ladders with buckets of
admixtures, and push wheelbarrows of concrete
• Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment
• Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
• Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessary
• Lift/Carry up to 55 pounds frequently
• Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
