Position Summary

The Activities Coordinator, 4-8 is responsible for overseeing the unit activities and curriculum for campers entering 4th through 8th grades. Additionally, as part of the Camp Leadership Team, the coordinator collaborates to oversee the camps day-to-day operations including the creation of program materials, social media postings, and positive camper experiences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a camp daily program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers.
  • Monitor and evaluate counselor staff to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
  • Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures.
  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
  • Act as a member of the Camp Leadership Team both within activities and throughout the camp day to direct and supervise all camp operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be 18 years of age or be a high school graduate by the start of camp.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks of day camp (June 18, 2025 - August 22, 2025) and training dates that will be scheduled prior to camp.
  • Must hold valid Lifeguard and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certifications throughout the position's employment dates listed. Training will be available.
  • Must hold valid waterfront module certification. Training will be available.
  • Must have documented experience teaching or interacting with youth program.
  • Must submit a basic health history form as set by the American Camping Association.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically.
  • Must possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
Recommended Education, Training and Experience
  • College credits in health, child development, education, psychology, or related field.
GSGLA Employee Requirements
  • Comply with state-mandated reporter training
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned

Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles requires its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to certain exemptions as required by law.
