Linux/Storage Administrator

The MSIC/SCOAA Team is looking for a new teammate with a broad base in Linux (and hoping to find someone with cross-OS skills) that can manage multi-tiered, multi-petabyte enterprise grade storage and backup system across the entire enterprise. These systems support everything from normal user and shared files to supercomputers.

A great candidate will already know how to manage local and remote filesystems, manage user and group permissions, manage file shares, and have experience managing storage systems of any kind including NAS, SAN, DDN, NetApp, or similar. An outstanding candidate will also have a Linux certification (like RHCSA or Linux+), be able to use shell scripting and python to automate tasks, or have considerable experience/certification in DDN, NetApp, or Spectra Logic.

Responsibilities
  • Perform storage administration tasks such as system deployment, data and volume management, managing user/group, security permissions, group policies, storage networking, and scheduling backups.
  • Create, update, and support documentation of guidelines, procedures, standards, and controls.
  • Monitor storage health using existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise.
  • Architect, implement, and support storage and backup solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Ensure high availability of storage access to end users.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses of service interruptions and set up preventive measures.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

One of the following combinations of education/experience:

    • Associate's degree or higher in related field with 2-12 years of related experience
    • High school diploma and 6-16 years of related experience
  • U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Top Secret Clearance with eligibility Sensitive Compartmented Information Access (TS//SCI) and Counterintelligence (CI) Scope Polygraph within 180 days of hire.
  • Certified at DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP, or equivalent).
  • Hardware troubleshooting (Power, Mainboard, CPUs, PCIe, RAM, Local Storage, Network).
  • Linux workstation and/or server operating system administration (RHEL 8/9, Rocky 8/9).
  • Enterprise and data center storage management (DDN, NetApp, Quantum, Spectra Logic, NAS, SAN, GPFS, NFS, CIFS, Lustre).

Preferred Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Top Secret Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information Access (TS//SCI) and Counterintelligence (CI) Scope Polygraph.
  • Operating Environment Certification (Linux Professional Institute (LPI) LPIC-1, LPI LPIC-2, CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or equivalent Linux certification).
  • Data center virtualization (VMware Horizon, vCenter, ESXi, Hyper-V, Nutanix, AppVol, Grid, KVM, Qemu, RHEV).
  • Programming/scripting in high-level languages (C, C++, Perl, Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Storage networking certification (NCDA, NCIE, Storage+, SCSN-E)
