The essential functions of a Car Wash Attendant include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures cleanliness of car wash interior and exterior appearance including cleaning, wiping and/or power-washing walls and equipment, sweeping/mopping floors, pick-up litter, emptying garbage’s, clean and sanitize rest rooms.
  • Performs periodic cleaning of other areas and equipment as instructed; windows, walls, water/air hoses, de-gum and de-grease surfaces, etc. Straightens and organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintains proper levels of all soaps, fluids, waxes, etc. for optimum car wash performance.
  • Promptly advises management of any maintenance issues; contacts Area Supervisor directly for emergency repairs.
  • Properly places equipment out of order with use of red cones/signs when needed.
  • Monitors and assures safe operation of wash equipment; monitors and follows laws and regulations regarding the safe dispensing of chemicals.
  • Executes assigned maintenance duties.
  • May mix and maintain car wash chemicals while observing proper safety procedures.
  • May perform preventative maintenance and minor car wash troubleshooting.
  • Maintains imaging of company properties by performing landscaping, cleaning/sweeping, and mowing, tree and shrub trimming, patching asphalt, etc.
  • Friendly and outgoing; willing to help customers and resolve complaints.
  • Assists with facility maintenance to include; mowing, trimming, shoveling, snow blowing salt and de-ice property. Occasionally during adverse weather conditions may assist with snow plowing using truck with blade.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Great customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and operate pressure washer; operate walking and riding mowers and other landscape power tools such as trimmers, leaf blowers etc.
  • Able to read and understand instructions for car wash chemicals/labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Able to identify and resolve immediate customer needs without constant supervision.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, employees, vendors and management. Able to read, write, hear, clearly speak and understand the English language.
  • Able to carry, push/pull, reach and lift up to 50 pounds alone. Carry out trash containers and lift to place in outside bin. Occasional use of step ladder. Occasional bend, kneel, stoop, squat and reaching over shoulder height.
  • Prolonged walking or standing for up to 8-10 continuous hours including but limited to a concrete or tile surface.
  • Able to sweep/mop and maintain interior/exterior lots/ground and equipment; shovel snow.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision, is self-motivated and able to work at a fast pace; work early morning, evenings, weekends and holidays. Dependable and punctual.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes, car wash chemicals, and cleaning products.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, have access to a vehicle and be able to provide documentation of auto insurance coverage on vehicle.
