Job Description

Dynamic and fast-growing Marketing and Media company seeking candidates to join our accounting department as a Senior Accountant. This is a full-time position supporting all Accounting functions in an enterprise, multiple company organization.

The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for analyzing and organizing financial information, ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are followed, and the preparation and completion of required reporting. Analysis responsibilities include current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. This individual plays a key role in the accurate maintenance of financial records, month-end and year-end financial reporting, cash flow analysis, account analysis, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable collections, accounts payable processing, revenue recognition, and ad hoc analysis.

Responsibilities Of The Senior Accountant Role Include

  • Process all internal and external billing/revenue recognition for BrandStar and its subsidiaries
  • Convert revenue recognition from cash basis to accrual basis
  • Process commissions for BrandStar employees and its subsidiaries as per company policy
  • Support all operational business divisions with day-to-day financial duties.
  • Perform and support the financial reporting needs of the businesses and related executives.
  • Prepare journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly close process.
  • Maintain accurate financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements and assist with audits.
  • Perform reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Ensure proper accounting and coding for all financial transactions.
  • Review all appropriate project-related transactions and ensure they are properly coded within Project Management software.
  • Review all incoming sales contracts for revenue recognition compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Present financial statements to appropriate management team members.
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of the annual financial planning process.
  • Perform monthly departmental expense analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Meet processing and reporting deadlines.

Required Experience

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of prior corporate accounting work experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures
  • Must have knowledge of project accounting and percentage of completion
  • Previous experience supporting a multi-state employer required
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while working in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
