Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.0 | Full Time/Salaried | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM. This position also requires being onsite in the Material Management department at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC) in Medford, Oregon.

This position starts at $53,664.00 annually ($25.80 per hour) and goes up based on years of relevant experience.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the foundational procurement functions to support the Asante system; arrange for high-quality goods and solutions at the best combined value. This position plays a central role in negotiating, soliciting bids, expediting orders, cost-reduction initiatives, alternative supply solutions, manufacturer recall management, processing requisitions, sourcing decisions, purchase order issuance, and purchase order management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support assigned departments with their supply and purchased service needs: Satisfy all demand resulting in purchase order issuance, all while providing outstanding customer service to internal customers and external suppliers that complies with Asante's behavioral standards: Excellence, Respect, Honesty, Service, and Teamwork.
  • Provide Sourcing Decisions: Assess supplier profiles and analyze offers. Ensure purchasing activity does not and will not conflict with existing contracts.
  • Contract/Order Negotiation and Administration: Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics in the best interest of Asante, our clinical departments, and the community we serve.
  • Maintain Supplier Performance: Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to terms of contracts. Propose solutions for supplier improvement plans.
  • Purchase Order Management: Verifies receipt of items ordered and resolves shipment errors with suppliers. Efficiently collaborate with both Receiving and Accounts Payable departments to resolve invoice-matching issues. Arrange for supplier returns and credits when applicable.
  • Demand Forecasting Support: Assist assigned departments with purchase planning by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Regulatory and Internal Policy Compliance: Maintaining compliance with all regulatory and Asante requirements.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Associates Degree in related field, or 2 additional years of direct Healthcare/Hospital Purchasing experience if no degree, is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of Purchasing experience, required.
  • 1 or more years of hospital or healthcare purchasing experience, preferred.
  • Clinical or medical supply experience, preferred.
  • Contract experience, preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office programs (specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions.
  • Capability to perform market research, data analysis, and purchasing best practices.

Preferred Certifications

  • ASCM, ISM/CSCP, SCPro, NCMA, or related Supply Chain certificate.
