Guest Services Specialist

Job Summary:
The Guest Services Specialist is responsible for day to day service flow for women and families temporarily residing in Cathedral Center’s emergency shelter or our emergency housing program. The role involves supporting the program director to ensure effective service planning and facilitation, including client admissions, program activity scheduling, group coordination, and maintaining data accuracy in our statewide system. The position demands adherence to ethical principles and core values within a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties:
- Ensure smooth daily service flow, taking initiative to fill gaps when needed.
- Crisis intervention with women and families experiencing homelessness or housing crises.
- Manage and communicate activity calendar, collaborating with the team for guest speakers and activities.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation of guest interactions, including incident reports, data entry, and maintaining client files.
- Assist program director with securing and distributing supplies and meals.
- Compassionately enforce rules and manage procedures for guest check-in/out, and daily client mail and belongings.
- Attend weekly case reviews, monthly team meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
- Serve as essential shelter support staff, addressing immediate needs of guests and assisting new guests in acclimating.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for guests, volunteers, and staff.
- Collaborate with Cathedral Center’s programs and partner agencies.
- Supervise and support shelter volunteers as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Directors and/or Executive Director.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of post-secondary education in a social service field, with a preference for a bachelor’s degree in social work or related fields. Required skills include regular physical activity, effective communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work with vulnerable populations are essential. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) and experience with Wisconsin Service Point are a plus.
