Chicago, United States Loyola University Chicago Full time $70,000 - $80,000
Position Details

Loyola University Chicago School of Law is a student-focused law center inspired by the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, intellectual openness, and service to others.

The Law School’s mission is:

  • to educate students to be responsible and compassionate lawyers, judges, and law-related leaders in an increasingly diverse and interdependent world;
  • to prepare graduates who will be ethical advocates for justice and equity, who will lead efforts to dismantle the legal, economic, political, and social structures that generate and sustain racism and all forms of oppression, and who will advance a rule of law that promotes social justice; and
  • to contribute to a deeper understanding of law, legal institutions, and systems of oppression through a commitment to transformation, intersectionality, and anti-subordination in our teaching, research, scholarship, and public service.

The Office of Career Services at Loyola University Chicago School of Law (“CSO”) works in partnership with the Law School Dean’s Office to develop and implement comprehensive career services strategies, shared goals, and priorities. The office builds relationships to strengthen employment networks and opportunities for students and alumni, and is dedicated to providing law students and alumni with the tools and resources necessary to engage in effective job search strategies.

The CSO’s mission is full time post-graduate placement for each student, made in line with LUC Law’s Mission. Full time post-graduate employment is the CSO’s number one obligation to students. Placement success is driven by: (a) foundational student services including student counseling, programming and a commitment to community excellence; and (b) consistent constituent partnerships with prospective employers, faculty and alumni. All of which is driven by data.

The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Career Services. The Assistant Director partners with the entire Career Services team as well as with offices across the law school in executing CSO’s mission and goals. In alignment with these priorities, the Assistant Director supports the Assistant Dean in the development and execution of the office’s career counseling strategy, operations and data collection and reporting.

The Assistant Director will assume primary responsibility for at least two service areas of immediate need: public interest; externships; judicial clerkships; employer outreach through social media: programming/events; alumni outreach; and excellence in community. Specific primary areas to be assigned by the Assistant Dean of Career Services and in line with the Assistant Director’s demonstrated skill sets.

In addition to these primary areas the Assistant Director will share responsibility for office wide services such as student counseling and data collection. The Assistant Director will perform other duties as assigned by and at the discretion of the Assistant Dean of Career Services.

The Assistant Director may be asked to serve on committees, represent the office on committees and at internal and external events, and perform other duties as assigned in support of the law school’s student experience and mission.

Assistant Director candidates with demonstrated success in teamwork, work ethic, willingness to learn new skills and attention to detail will receive priority consideration.
