Power Generation Practice Leader

Omaha, United States HDR Full time $166,051 - $299,640

Power Generation Practice Leader

The electric energy industry is rapidly changing. The increasing commissioning of variable energy resources combined with carbon reduction pressures and increasing demand are requiring bold evolutions from the power generation industry of the past. Power generation fleets are forced to rapidly change to meet lower cost and lower carbon emission initiatives. At the same time, our power generation clients are rapidly expanding beyond traditional providers to include developers and distributed generation owners.

HDR is seeking a strategic-minded Power Generation Practice Leader to partner with our clients to sculpt their strategies around diversification of their power sources for the next generation.

Who you are

You are an industry leader and well recognized in the power generation market. You are passionate about being a strategic, comprehensive solutions provider and you embrace the transformational changes of the power industry to transition to a lower carbon emissions future. You bring a strategic and comprehensive solution mindset to support our clients during this transition. You are an enthusiastic leader with innovative ideas and have the ability to lead teams of all generations in a rapidly evolving and complex industry. You are a driver who makes things happen. You’re an ‘ideas’ person with high levels of emotional intelligence which helps you gain greater insight into client needs and leverage high performance technical teams to achieve goals. You’re just as comfortable having an in-depth one-on-one discussion as you are presenting in the board room or making a technical presentation in a crowded convention center. You are as dedicated about the success of your co-workers as you are your own. Things don’t ‘sit’ with you – you have a natural fire within yourself to keep things moving and to keep others focused on the goals of our team in a more respectful, professional manner. You are a difference maker.

Primary Responsibilities

The Power Generation Practice Leader is a global role and part of the overall Power leadership team at HDR. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Represent HDR as our power generation lead in the industry. This includes meeting with key clients, attending industry conferences, and being a thought leader in technology development circles.
  • Nurture relationships with clients to understand the challenges facing them as they map out the future of their power supply needs.
  • Create a cohesive practice across multiple offices and multiple disciplines that support implementation of power generation technologies. Build and maintain unity around long-term strategies with diverse teams.
  • Establish and drive objectives that support the HDR annual and the five-year strategic plans for the power generation business. This includes client development, strategic recruitment initiatives and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with HDR stakeholders and clients to explore and execute on various capital deployment models.
  • Strategy development and implementation for teaming partner relationships and selection of partners that enhance HDR’s market position.
  • Supporting staff development. Assess HDR’s current power generation staff and partner with leadership to position HDR’s talent to match the needs of the future through leadership development programs.
  • Participate in power market sector efforts such as strategic planning initiatives, business development, and internal operations synergies to maximize client satisfaction and HDR success.
  • Partner with HDR operations leadership to develop and deliver on strong staffing and financial strategies.
