JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, assist audiology staff providing hearing aid services and test preparation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or recognized equivalent and two years of experience working in an audiology office setting.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Audiology
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Registered with state of NC and under supervision of audiologists license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares patients for evaluation or treatment. Completes prior approval paperwork as directed by the audiologist.
2. Performs a variety of assistive tasks including hearing aid repair and troubleshooting, device orientation and ordering, testing preparation, and hearing screening under the supervising audiologists license. Provides services previously through telehealth to extend access to clinical care under supervision of an audiologist.
3. Instructs patients in care and use of devices dispensed by the supervising audiologist.
4. Perform hearing screening under the direction of an audiologist. Complete documentation in the medical record regarding any service provided.
5. Serve as point of contact for patients needing hearing aid maintenance.
6. Orders, unpacks and properly stocks hearing device supplies.
7. Intake hearing aids, verifying warranty, verifying receipt and accuracy of parts, preparing for dispense to patient and generating official invoice. Serve as liaison between Audiologist and hearing aid companies to resolve warranty issues.
8. Performs other technical and administrative duties as assigned by audiologists.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and a basic understanding of hearing loss and effect of a hearing loss Demonstrated understanding of hearing aid equipment Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships Ability to comply with state and federal regulations Knowledge of computer equipment and software Ability to take direction and training from licensed audiologist
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Well-lit, clean, comfortable environment. Subject to interruptions Occasionally subjected to irregular hours May come in contact with cleaning materials, sharp instruments
