Transplantation Science Educator

Position Summary:

The Transplantation Science Educator travels to local middle schools and high schools to teach students about the science behind organ, eye, and tissue donation for transplantation. This position is employed by Insight Global for per-diem assignment for Donor Alliance.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teaches Transplantation Science curriculum in local middle schools and high schools, grades include 6th through 12th.
  • Compiles data from classes taught across service area, reporting back to Public Education Coordinator(s)
  • Builds relationships with teachers to encourage growth of the Transplantation Science
  • Engages students to interact with Transplantation Science curriculum and materials.
  • Maintains, and responsibly stores, Transplantation Science materials.

Education and Work Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, health, science, liberal arts or related field and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Three plus years teaching experience strongly
  • Colorado or Wyoming teacher license strongly
  • Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Zoom, Google Meets.
Requirements:
  • This is a part-time, per diem, as needed teaching position based in Wyoming. Normal hours include training, professional development, teaching, and travel.
  • Ability to pass a background
  • Valid state driver license and insurance. Travel by personal auto is required with
  • Physically able to climb stairs and lift 50 lbs. worth of materials as needed.
  • Access to home internet and be able to check email daily.
  • Confident in high school and middle school classrooms, including interacting with students with special needs and students who speak English as a second language.
  • Ability to speak and write English. Ability to speak and write Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Steps to Becoming a Transplantation Science Educator:

  • Fill out an application.
  • Phone Screen with Donor Alliance staff member.
  • Shadow current Transplantation Science educator for one class.
  • Participate in a formal interview.
  • If hired, complete background check paperwork.
