GROUNDSKEEPER
POSITION SUMMARY The Groundskeeper is responsible for general groundskeeping tasks that keep the camp looking clean, safe and well maintained. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Mowing grass.
  • Weed eating.
  • Sweeping.
  • Collecting trash.
  • General gardening tasks.
  • Cleaning camp facilities as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to be aware of surroundings, especially as children are involved, working safely around them and being conscious of unsafe circumstances and situations. Willingness to address issues as needed for the safety and well-being of all staff and participants.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
