Medical Billing Specialist

*Job Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our behavioral health clinic. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing for a range of mental health services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of behavioral health coding practices, ensure compliance with regulations, and facilitate effective communication between our clinic and insurance providers.
*Responsibilities*
* Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients promptly.
* Review patient records to ensure accuracy in coding and billing information.
* Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for accurate billing.
* Manage accounts receivable by following up on outstanding claims and payments.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
* Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
* Prepare reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding accounts as needed.
*Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
* Certification as a CPC or CCS is strongly preferred.
* 2 years of experience in clerical, bookkeeping, or similar roles.
* Proficient in medical coding software and EHR systems.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
*Working Conditions:*
* Onsite position located in Missoula, MT.
* Hybrid schedule is available after training.
* Occasional overtime may be required.
