Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Psychiatrist to join our team. The Psychiatrist is responsible for delivering high-quality care to both Damar residential and Damar Health Services patients. The Psychiatrist assesses patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the patient's progress. This is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved site.

Provides overall supervision for behavioral health services at the CCBHC.
Provides psychotropic medication management for patients.
Uses a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, such as interviewing the patient, their family or other persons.
Develops a treatment plan according to the needs of the patient’s needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental or behavioral disorder.
Treats a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication and adjusting treatment where necessary.
Consults with the patient’s Primary Care Physician, Nurses or other health care providers.
Provides crisis intervention when needed.
Writes and maintains patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered.
Keeps up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences or maintaining professional networks.
Follows ethical and legal policies, procedures and standards.
Limited travel in and around Marion County.

What you need to be considered...

Board certified Psychiatrist, MD or DO specializing in mental health and/or addictions medicine.
Previous experience working with children and adults with SMI, SED, SUD, and CoD preferred.
Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
