The Pathologist Assistant plays a crucial role in the pathology department, providing support to pathologists in the examination and diagnosis of tissue samples. *Duties*
* Assist pathologists in the examination and diagnosis of tissue specimens.
* Prepare and process specimens for analysis, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
* Perform laboratory procedures including sectioning, staining, and embedding of tissue samples.
* Maintain aseptic technique throughout all laboratory processes to prevent contamination.
* Conduct quality control checks on laboratory equipment and supplies.
* Document findings accurately and assist in the preparation of reports for pathologists.
* Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
* Stay updated on current research in pathology and contribute to ongoing laboratory projects.

*Skills*
* Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques related to pathology.
* Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to anatomical pathology.
* Familiarity with aseptic technique and safety protocols within a laboratory setting.
* Understanding of physiology knowledge as it relates to specimen analysis.
* Experience with vital signs monitoring may be beneficial in specific contexts.
* Ability to phlebotomize when required for specimen collection or research purposes.
* Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
* Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

This role is essential for supporting diagnostic processes within the healthcare system, contributing directly to patient care through accurate specimen analysis and reporting.
