About Your Team:Reporting to the Director of Nursing/Administrator, the Operating Room Registered Nurse (Circulator) at DISC Sports and Spine Outpatient Surgery Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients undergoing surgical procedures in our state-of-the-art facility.

Must-Have Qualifications:

3 years of circulating experience in surgery.
Experience in "Vascular" procedures
CNOR highly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ambulatory experience highly preferred.
High volume surgical experience.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Unrestricted CA RN License.
Hospital nursing experience is a must.
Current BLS and ACLS certification.
Excellent safety, quality, infection control, and risk management skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

Willingness to thrive in a high-paced environment.
Expertise in quality and infection control.
Experience in Neuro, Spine and Ortho is a plus.

Education Requirements/Certifications:

RN
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) highly recommended.

Must-Have Soft Skills:

Patient advocacy.
Team collaboration for total perioperative support.
Maintenance of patient privacy and dignity.
Excellent communication skills for patients, families, and the team.
Excellent phone etiquette.
Competence in MS Word and basic Excel.
Reliability and a team player.

Day-to-Day Duties:

Functions as a patient advocate.
Participates as a team member to support the total perioperative process.
Maintains patient privacy and dignity.

Responsibilities:

Preoperative Assessment:

Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to gather patient history, identify potential risks, and ensure proper preparation for surgery.

Patient Advocacy:

Serve as the patient advocate throughout the surgical experience, ensuring effective communication and addressing patient concerns.

Surgical Planning and Coordination:

Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for each procedure, ensuring proper equipment, supplies, and instrumentation are available.

Intraoperative Care:

Scrub and circulate during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field and providing continuous patient monitoring.
Administer medications and assist the anesthesia team as needed.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to facilitate a smooth and efficient operation.

Documentation:

Accurately document all aspects of the surgical process, including patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Infection Control:

Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.

Postoperative Care:

Monitor patients during the immediate postoperative period, providing post-anesthesia care and managing any complications that may arise.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists, to ensure seamless patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Quality Improvement:

Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of patient outcomes and safety protocols.
