*Position Overview:* An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.
*Qualifications: *
* *Education: *High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.
* *Certification / License: *BLS certification required prior to end of probationary period. Surgical Tech certification required.
* *Skills: *Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment. Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
* *Experience: *One or more years experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.
*Reports to: *Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services
*Environment: *- Bloodborne pathogens - C Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.
*Physical Requirements:* Heavy physical effort requiring standing, walking or lifting most of the day. Requires ability to speak, hear and communicate verbal and written materials.
