About the Role
Our client, a renowned performing arts organization in Houston , is seeking a dynamic Lead Choreographer for their upcoming major production. This is a contract role where you will be responsible for developing and staging all movement sequences, ensuring they are artistically compelling and technically executed. You will work closely with the director and artistic team to define the show's movement vocabulary and coach the cast through the rehearsal process. This position demands a strong creative vision, exceptional movement storytelling abilities, and the capacity to inspire dancers to achieve peak performance, contributing significantly to the overall artistic integrity and impact of the production.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and create original choreography for the production.
- Stage all movement sequences, ensuring they align with the director's vision and the narrative.
- Lead rehearsals, teaching choreography to the cast and providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the artistic team to define the overall movement style and tone.
- Adapt choreography based on performer capabilities and production needs.
- Ensure the highest standards of artistic and technical execution in all movement pieces.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a professional choreographer with a strong portfolio of stage productions.
- Expertise in various dance styles and movement techniques.
- Ability to translate conceptual ideas into dynamic and engaging choreography.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working collaboratively within a theatrical production environment in Houston .
