About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to join their innovative legal team in Philadelphia . This vital role focuses on protecting and leveraging the company's intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. You will be responsible for IP strategy development, patent prosecution, trademark management, and advising on IP-related transactions and disputes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IP attorney to play a significant role in safeguarding and advancing the company's technological and brand innovations within a forward-thinking organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global intellectual property strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and prosecute patent applications in the US and foreign jurisdictions.
- Oversee trademark clearance, registration, and enforcement globally.
- Conduct IP due diligence for potential acquisitions, mergers, and licensing agreements.
- Advise on IP-related aspects of commercial contracts, including R&D, collaboration, and licensing agreements.
- Manage and resolve IP disputes, including infringement claims and challenges to IP rights.
- Work closely with R&D and business teams to identify and protect new inventions and brands.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law and registration to practice before the USPTO.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience specifically in intellectual property law, with a strong technical background (e.g., engineering, computer science).
- Proven experience in patent prosecution, trademark law, and IP licensing.
- Excellent understanding of IP litigation and enforcement strategies.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex IP portfolios and advise senior management.
