About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join their middle school team in Chicago . You will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs. This role requires a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student can thrive academically and socially. You will work collaboratively with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure the success of each student, making a profound difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-quality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
  • Provide differentiated instruction tailored to the specific learning, behavioral, and emotional needs of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to integrate students into mainstream classrooms effectively.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance, behavior, and interventions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress andIEP goals.

Requirements

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the state of Illinois.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students with various disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, emotional/behavioral disorders).
  • Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
