Multi-Unit Operations Manager — Temakase & Blue Belly Restaurant Group
Location: New York City | Full-time, on-site across locations
Salary: $90,000–$120,000, depending on experience
Reports to: Founder
About Us
Temakase is a hand roll bar built around fresh ingredients, warm rice, and crispy seaweed. Our sister concept, Blue Belly, expands that experience with nigiri, cut rolls, hand rolls, and curated set menus.
As our restaurant group continues to grow across New York City, we're looking for a results-driven Multi-Unit Operations Manager to oversee business performance across our locations, strengthen management accountability, and support the continued growth of both brands.
The Role
The Multi-Unit Operations Manager will work directly with the founder to oversee performance across Temakase and Blue Belly locations. This role serves as a central point of coordination between restaurant General Managers, HR, and Finance, ensuring that business performance is closely monitored and operational decisions are supported by accurate reporting and meaningful analysis.
Rather than managing every restaurant-level task directly, you'll evaluate reports, identify trends and operational gaps, develop actionable recommendations, and hold management teams accountable for results. You'll help the founder maintain clear visibility into the business, improve profitability, and build scalable systems to support future expansion.
We're looking for a highly analytical and organized leader who understands restaurant operations, financial performance, and people management—and can turn business data into practical decisions.
Responsibilities
Oversee Multi-Unit Operations: Monitor the overall performance of all restaurant locations, review reports from General Managers, identify operational challenges, and ensure each location meets company goals and performance standards.
Lead and Evaluate General Managers: Establish clear performance expectations for location General Managers, review their results and action plans, identify areas for improvement, and ensure accountability for operational and financial outcomes.
Analyze Financial Performance: Work closely with the Finance team to review P&L statements, sales trends, labor costs, operating expenses, and restaurant profitability. Identify financial risks and opportunities and provide actionable recommendations to the founder.
Oversee HR Reporting and Workforce Performance: Partner with HR to review hiring progress, staffing levels, employee turnover, labor-related challenges, and management development. Identify workforce trends and recommend strategies to improve productivity, retention, and organizational performance.
Consolidate Cross-Department Reporting: Coordinate reporting from General Managers, HR, and Finance to develop a comprehensive view of the group's performance. Ensure key reports are accurate, timely, and useful for business planning and decision-making.
Provide Business Insights and Recommendations: Translate operational, financial, and workforce data into clear insights. Identify performance gaps, emerging risks, and growth opportunities, and present practical recommendations directly to the founder.
Monitor KPIs and Accountability: Establish and track key performance indicators across locations and departments, including sales performance, labor percentages, profitability, staffing metrics, and progress toward business targets. Follow up with responsible managers on corrective actions.
Drive Operational Efficiency: Identify recurring operational challenges and opportunities for improvement through management reports, financial analysis, and performance reviews. Recommend process improvements, better resource allocation, and systems that increase consistency and efficiency across locations.
Develop Management Reporting Systems: Build and maintain standardized reporting templates, performance dashboards, review schedules, and accountability systems that allow leadership to monitor business results and identify issues early.
Support Strategic Planning and Expansion: Work directly with the founder on business planning, annual goals, growth strategies, and new restaurant openings. Evaluate operational readiness, management capacity, and financial performance to support sustainable expansion.
