Apply NowSalary Range: $50,383 to $66,090 (w/LOC)Qualifications:In this position you will serve as a serve as a Firefighter (Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support) assigned to a crew engaged in airfield and structural firefighting, crash-rescue operations, response to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials (HAZMAT), for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release, and to conduct performance of noninvasive emergency medical procedures. Duties include but will not be limited to:Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis.Performs Basic Life Support.Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great.Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities.Requirements and Qualifications (not limited to): U.S. CitizenshipObtain & maintain Security clearanceEmployee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program.The employee is required to work a 72 hour week on a 48 hour on / 48 or 72 hour off basis which includes weekends and holidays. May be subject to recall.This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing (IAW HQ-USAF letter dated 29 Jan 90).This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.The employee will be required to drive a motor vehicles and fire apparatus.An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required. Candidate must obtain all apparatus licenses and certifications within 1 year of employment.Employee is required to be certified by the Department of Defense (DOD) Firefighter Certification System as:Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II), HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, and HAZMAT Technician.Required to maintain current National Registry Emergency Medical Technicial-Basic (EMTB) certification. This requirement should be determined locally.KSAs:
- Knowledge of basic and specialized airfield and structural firefighting equipment (fire alarm system operation, fire extinguishing equipment operation, etc.), techniques, and procedures; and of basic and specialized building design, construction, and occupancy.
- Knowledge of HAZMAT emergency response procedures, equipment, identification, and mitigation actions.
- Knowledge of Basic Life Support techniques and protocols; and of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
- Skill in operating communications equipment.
- Ability to maintain good working relations; to communicate orally and in writing; and to lift and carry heavy loads.
- Ability to conduct complete HAZMAT incident analysis; and to apply Basic Life Support techniques and protocols.
