Job Description Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to Monitor, troubleshoot, automate, and continuously develop software tools to improve the availability and resiliency of open source big data platforms at Visa. Perform big data administration and engineering activities on multiple open source clusters. Build and maintain relationships with customer teams, the user community, architects, and engineering teams and jointly work on key deliverables to ensure production scalability and stability. Perform root cause analysis of major production incidents and develop learning documentation. Plan and perform capacity expansion and upgrades in timely manner avoiding any scaling issues and bugs. Automate repetitive tasks to reduce manual effort and avoid human error. Work closely with L-3 teams in reviewing new cases, cluster hardening techniques, and performance problems. Leverage devops tools, disciplines (e.g., incident, problem, and change management) and standards in day-to-day operations. Position reports to the Austin, TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting. Qualifications Basic Qualifications:  Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation. Position requires experience in the following: Hadoop Platform environments; Hadoop administration; Zookeeper; HDFS; Yarn; Hive; Spark; Shell and Python scripting; and Unix and Linux. Additional Information Worksite: Austin, TX This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs. Travel Requirements: This position does not required travel. Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
