Locum Tenens Opportunity: Emergency Medicine - Urgent Care Physician Near Wausau, WI We are currently seeking a qualified Emergency Medicine physician specializing in Urgent Care for a locum tenens position near Wausau, WI. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a combined Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care setting at a tertiary Level II hospital. We are looking for coverage starting ASAP and continuing on an ongoing basis. Position Overview: Specialty : Emergency Medicine - Urgent Care Type : Locum Tenens Start Date : ASAP End Date : Ongoing Coverage Type : Scheduled Clinical Hours Only Practice Setting : Inpatient Key Responsibilities: Clinical Hours : Coverage is needed for variable shifts including 6 AM to 6 PM and 6 PM to 6 AM, seven days a week. Double coverage shifts are available Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday through Sunday from 11 AM to 10 PM. Typical shifts are 12 hours long. Patient Load : The average patient volume is approximately 140 patients per shift. The facility has a combined total of 38 beds in the ED and Urgent Care. Qualifications : Board certification in Emergency Medicine is required. ABEM certification is mandatory for this role. An active Wisconsin (WI) medical license is needed. Certifications in ACLS, ATLS, and BLS are required, while ABLS and PALS are not. APC Coverage : At least one Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) is available in the Urgent Care from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM, with several overlapping shifts. EMR System : The facility uses Cerner for electronic medical records. Additional Details : The position does not include on-call responsibilities. Temporary privileges are available with an estimated credentialing timeframe of 60 days if the credentialing file is clean. Compensation and Benefits: Competitive pay based on shift coverage.
