Varghese & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our expanding New York No-Fault/PIP Office located in Jericho, NY. This team is comprised of multiple roles and levels including Legal Administrative Support, Legal Secretary, Paralegal, and Attorney. While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, a typical day as a Litigation Paralegal involves supporting attorneys with both No-Fault arbitration and litigation files. This office allows for collaborative environments with experienced peer mentors. There are no billable hours in this opportunity. This role provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development. This person in this role will interact with clients, experts, and witnesses throughout the litigation process. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend approximately 60% of the time within the office.  Hours for the position are M-F, 8:30 am-5:00 pm or 9:00 am-5:30 pm.  Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.  Location: 300 Jericho Quadrangle, Suite 260, Jericho New York 11753Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Arbitration FilesPreparing conciliation submissions under supervision of AttorneysCommunication with vendorsExpert witness involvementReviewing arbitration files for status updatesSignificant communication with claim partnersLitigation FilesInvolved in motion practice including drafting motionsDiscovery related tasksAssist in trial preparationSignificant communication with claim partners  QualificationsPlease only apply if you meet the minimum qualifications.Previous Experience required3+ years of recent civil litigation experience, preferably with no-fault, insurance defense, or personal injury areas of lawBackground in arbitration filesBackground in drafting discovery responses, motion practice, and trial preparationFamiliarity with Civil Court Rules and ProceduresKey Skills required:Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectivelyStrong written communication skills and attention to detailFamiliarity with AAATechnology/software experience requiredStrong software/technical skillsWorking knowledge of a Case Management systemWorking Knowledge of a Document Storage systemEducation requirements including licensing and certificationPrior litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or relevant coursework or legal studies degree is required Additional Details:Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately.
