As a Applications Engineer, you will develop system specifications, troubleshoot technical issues, ensure system security, and manage system lifecycle from conception to deployment.Our ideal candidate is dedicated to hard work, shows initiative when taking on new challenges and thrives in a team environment.In return, we offer competitive pay with an excellent benefit package including paid time off, company matching 401(k) plans and medical, dental, vision and life insurance options as well as professional development with career advancement opportunity in an innovative growth industry.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESInstall new hardware, software, and infrastructure components.Monitor system performance, conduct regular maintenance, and implement protocols for feedback and operational integrity.Diagnose and resolve technical issues, provide technical direction, and ensure rapid response to incidents.Identify areas for improvement, automate tasks to enhance efficiency, and conduct capacity planning.Liaise with stakeholders, management, vendors, and end-users to understand needs and facilitate solutions.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducationBachelors degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.ExperienceMinimum 3-5 years of experience in engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems or related fieldsExperience deploying and maintaining infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewallsExperience deploying and supporting technology equipment and integrated systems, such as surveillance cameras, alarm/monitoring systems, or IoT/smart city devices.Background in cloud-hosted operating systems (Azure, AWS, or GCP instances) and hybrid infrastructure.Practical experience with system monitoring and performance optimization tools.Demonstrated ability to write and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and system schematics.Experience installation, and integration of technology equipment for enterprise or industrial environments.Familiarity with data center operations, including rack/stack installations, cabling, and system documentation.Hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft Windows environments.Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesAbility to interpret and develop technical drawings, equipment layouts, and system diagrams.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performanceDesign, implement, and maintain secure, high-availability network infrastructuresConfigure, troubleshoot, and optimize routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllersConduct root cause analysis for network performance or security issuesDocument network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating proceduresFamiliarity with optical power budgets, attenuation, dispersion, and wavelength allocationUnderstanding of OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) fiber installation standards and best practicesKnowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and enterprise management toolsUnderstanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, access control, and data protection standardsAwareness of emerging technologies (IoT, edge computing)Familiarity with structured cabling, AV systems, and physical technology installation standardsExperience with fiber enclosures, patch panels, trays, and connector types (LC, SC, ST, MPO/MTP)Plan routes, conduct site surveys, and prepare accurate material lists for fiber buildsAwareness of fiber testing methods: OTDR, OLTS, light source & power meterPREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS (OPTIONAL)Network Infrastructure:CompTIA network+ (Plus) for essential networking tools and concepts.HPE Aruba Certified Networking Associate (ACMA) for switching, routing, wireless and edge networking.Fiber-Optic & Cabling Certifications:FOA CFOS Specialties (e.g., CFOS/T Testing, CFOS/S Splicing, CFOS/O Outside Plant)BICSI Certifications (e.g., INSTC, INSTF, Technician, RCDD)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
