Summary
We are seeking a full-time Domestic Violence Housing Navigator to provide landlord engagement, landlord retention, and intensive case management services to individual women and women with children who are homeless due to domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Housing Program supports women and gender-expansive individuals who have experienced domestic violence to get connected to permanent housing. As a field-based case management position the Housing Navigator will help identify available housing stock in Los Angeles County and assist women with securing permanent housing. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team and provides innovative services that are at the forefront of homeless services. An ideal candidate practices Trauma-Informed Care and approaches case management with a strengths-based approach. This position is a member of the Clinical Department and reports directly to the Director of DV Housing. This is a Temporary Position.
Essential Functions
Cultivate and maintain positive partnerships with Los Angeles County landlords and property management companies
Provide individualized field-based case management services to a reduced caseload of participants; create individual service plans and bio-psycho-social assessments every 3 months, including goals to ensure housing stability
Hold housing search and/or living skills groups for participants who are newly housed or searching for units
Work closely with Housing Stabilizers to provide housing leads and support for unhoused clients
Host and coordinate quarterly landlord engagement and appreciation events
Advocate for fair housing and safe living conditions for clients
Work with newly housed clients to develop life skills and engagement with community resources once housed
Assist clients in securing housing, basic needs, medical and mental health services including substance abuse treatment, when necessary, job training access, and public benefits where eligible
Work to effectively meet clients’ needs and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy and collaboration with DWC staff and other community service providers
Process PHA (Public Housing Authorities) voucher applications and maintain collaborative relationships with Los Angeles PHAs
Maintain accurate and timely records of activities, case management notes, and services provided to each client
Advocate for best practices to ensure that clients retain housing, increase life skills, improve health and mental health
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, staff and local service providers, participate in community meetings pertaining to services benefitting clients, and serve as a representative of DWC at community events
Effective crisis management skills and conflict resolutions skills
Be an ambassador of DWC and its mission and values by participating in community meetings/events
Participate in weekly individual and group supervision, in addition to other agency meetings and trainings as required
Participate in quarterly peer chart reviews by providing and responding to colleague feedback and making necessary corrections in a timely manner
Provide weekly and monthly written reports, and additional reports as assigned

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday- Friday 8:00AM- 4:30PM.
Travel
Regular travel throughout Los Angeles County is required in this position.
Remote
Expectation to be able to work onsite full-time as scheduled, with possibility of some remote work.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and strong knowledge of the complexity of poverty and women’s homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, health issues, and older adults preferred.
Two years of experience working as a case manager/housing specialist/similar position and knowledge of community resources preferred
Two years of experience providing domestic violence services as a case manager or similar experience preferred
Experience working directly with landlords through property management, real estate or housing navigation services preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications
Knowledge of local resources available to individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
Excellent active listening and crisis intervention skills with ability to exercise and model good judgment
Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, including proficiency in balancing direct service responsibilities and record-keeping
Ability to solve problems by being resourceful and using creativity
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
HMIS or other database management preferred.
40-Hr Domestic Violence Certification a plus.
Current valid California state driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle with good driving record required.
Must be a CA resident and live no more than 80 miles from DWC; must be available for in-person meetings at DWC.
Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
Must provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result from the last seven days, on first day of hire.
You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. DWC does not sponsor employment visas, such as H-1B.
