Ready Mix Concrete Operations Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Operations Leader for our Mining, Aggregate, and Building Materials ventures.
This special individual will have the ability to combine deep technical skill with a strong business acumen. In this position, you will oversee all the current and future expansion of mining and associated industries (i.e. gypsum materials, cement, concrete, etc.) that are currently under development. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the mine and plant, ensuring efficient production, quality control, safety, and compliance with environmental regulations. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The leader will drive operational excellence, optimize production processes, and lead a team of professionals to achieve the plant’s performance goals as well as develop other business opportunities in the Construction Materials unit. A keen attention to detail, great attitude and strong analytical skills are a must. This role will directly report to CEO and will be expected to provide daily and weekly updates to senior management on performance of projects and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Production Management:
· Oversee all aspects of the mining and production processes, including raw material handling, clinker production, grinding, and packaging.
· Ensure production targets are met or exceeded, while maintaining high standards of product quality and consistency with a focus on maximizing output and minimizing waste.
· Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), identify areas for improvement, implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency and implement corrective actions as needed.
· Develop and manage production schedules to optimize the use of equipment and resources, minimizing downtime and delays
Team Leadership and Development:
· Lead the Las Vegas team, provide offsite team support, coordinate and communicate with internal cross-functional teams, major stakeholders, external third-party partners, etc. to ensure production progress and timeliness, steer successful completion and meet the business development goals
· Develop and implement the company’s 5-year growth plan. Effectively manage allocated budgets and deliver within agreed timelines and costs.
· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors, operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
· Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual goals, and provide ongoing coaching and support to team members.
Process Optimization:
· Identify opportunities to improve production processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency, utilizing lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
· Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and extend the life of critical assets.
· Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer specifications.
· Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing operational performance, expanding capacity, and implementing new technologies
Budget and Cost Management:
· Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
· Monitor and control operational costs, identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
· Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including production output, quality metrics, and budget adherence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
· Work closely with other departments, including maintenance, engineering, logistics, and quality control, to ensure seamless operations and alignment with overall business goals.
· Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes, providing insights and recommendations based on operational expertise.
· Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving plant performance, capacity expansion, and other initiatives.
· Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, shippers and other external partners to ensure timely delivery of services and materials.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geological and Geophysical Engineering, Industrial, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or any other related fields required. Master’s degree would be a plus
· Master’s degree in business administration or other related field preferred.
· Professional PMP certificate preferred
Work Experience:
· 10+ years of working experience in mining, aggregate production, building materials, concrete production, large-scale excavation and grading industry, construction and other related industries with at least 4+ years of leadership experience
Preferred Skills:
· In-depth knowledge of mining/manufacturing and/or construction materials processes, equipment, and industry best practices.
· Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Proven ability to manage complex operations, optimize production processes, and lead cross-functional teams.
· Proficiency in production management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and compliance requirements in the industry.
· Familiar with budgeting and cost control, effectively manage budget by strictly aligning to company's financial requirements
· Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
· Familiarity with modern automation and control systems used in the industry
· Experience in managing large-scale production facilities and overseeing capital improvement projects.
Leadership skills:
· An individual who is driven by result, who likes to take initiative, open and flexible to changes, creative and reliable for the team and the company.
· Strong organizational skills and capability to establish a climate of urgency and main focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
· Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and operational challenges.
