Baker Studios is seeking a skilled and creative Concrete Artisan and Craftsman to join our team and craft custom artistic sculptures, outdoor living resorts, and themed designs using concrete, steel, and foam. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating high-quality, aesthetically pleasing works of art, with a keen eye for detail and a hands-on approach to the entire creative process.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Design and Fabrication:**
- Collaborate with designers, architects, and clients to conceptualize and create unique concrete sculptures.
- Translate sketches, blueprints, and digital models into tangible concrete artworks.
- **Material Preparation and Casting:**
- Mix and prepare concrete using specialized additives, pigments, and aggregates to achieve desired finishes and textures.
- Construct molds, forms, and frameworks for casting or sculpting projects.
- Carve and sculpt foam.
- **Sculpting and Detailing:**
- Shape, carve, and refine concrete pieces by hand or using power tools to achieve intricate details and artistic expressions.
- Apply finishing techniques, such as polishing, staining, or sealing, to enhance durability and aesthetics.
- **Quality Control:**
- Ensure the structural integrity and visual quality of all completed pieces.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues in the design or fabrication process.
- **Collaboration and Innovation:**
- Work closely with other artisans, architects, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of sculptures into larger projects.
- Stay updated on new techniques, materials, and trends in concrete artistry.
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience as a concrete artisan, foam artist, sculptor, or related role.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, woodshop tools, as well as concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Strong understanding of proportions, aesthetics, and structural principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
**Preferred Skills:**
- Experience with 3D modeling software and CNC technology.
- Knowledge of advanced concrete materials, such as GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete).
- Background in other artistic disciplines, such as painting or woodworking, is a plus.
**Work Environment:**
- This is a hands-on role that involves working in a workshop or construction site setting.
- May require lifting heavy materials, working with chemicals, and operating machinery.
