Position Title: Campaign Director: Lonjezo University

Department: Development

Reports To: President of UrbanPromise International  

Salary Range: 50,000-70,000

Position Summary: UrbanPromise International will hire a new staff person with experience in Development campaign support, administration, and execution. The Campaign Director will provide support to the Campaign Committee, execute the segmented donor communication strategy, and be the primary relationship manager for lower-level campaign donors who contribute to the campaign in its final phase. Upon the campaign’s completion, this position has the potential to transition to a member of the Development Team.

Essential Job Functions:    

  • Provide administrative oversight and support for the implementation of a 2-year capital campaign; maintaining systems for tracking communications with prospects and campaign donations that support the development team, board, and campaign committee members in their efforts to reach campaign goals
  • Manage Committee members • Keep them apprised of campaign progress overall • Remind them of the steps they agreed to take with the prospects they know
  • Ensure Committee members are provided with logistical information and relevant materials before donor meetings.  Update them when UrbanPromise interacts with any prospects they know.
  • As relevant and appropriate, interact directly with donor prospects (after Committee members have made the initial introduction) to coordinate meetings and follow up.
  • Coordinate with the UPI team as it relates to donor requests for campaign information, leading up to and preparing for the campaign-related requests and tracking interactions/progress.
  • As relevant and appropriate, attend meetings important to cultivating relationships with donors and project stakeholders.
  • Attend, invite, and cultivate relationships at UrbanPromise International events—Move for Promise, Church Visits, third party events.
  • Track all interactions with prospective donors and Committee members
  • Track campaign progress and update campaign materials as needed
  • Attend/participate in weekly meeting with the UPI Team, reporting on status to the team and ministry as a whole
  • Develop a deep understanding of the vision and mission of Lonjezo University and the Malawian leaders involved in executing the project. 
  • Provide formal acknowledgement of all gifts, document these in the database, provide formal/personal acknowledgement, and ensure that all relevant Committee members personally thank the donor as well
  • Prepare campaign updates for donors and prospects 
  • Administer pledge installment system in conjunction with development gift entry
  • Oversee all campaign related administrative development functions (including data entry, database management, reporting, gift acknowledgment, and other duties as required)
  • Coordinate logistics for Committee meetings, donor meetings, etc. 
  • Execute segmented donor communications strategy for the campaign in close coordination with UrbanPromise International Team 
  • Serve as primary relationship manager with new donors UrbanPromise International cultivates during the final phase of the campaign
  • Assist with administrative functions related to the campaign
  • Participate, as a team member in the broader organization at UrbanPromise International, in staff events, meetings,
  • Comply with local, state, federal laws and UP International policies.

Essential Job Requirements:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or higher

EXPERIENCE: Experience in non-profit fundraising (or similar functions) and development, ideally on campaign support, administration, execution

REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong administrative and organizational skills, experience with social media, works well with team members and can help drive a team toward goals and results.
