Job Title: Electromechanical Technician
Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Plant Manager
Location: Connecticut/South Carolina
Availability for Travel: High, with potential international travel depending on projects

 Job Objective:

The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on electromechanical equipment in production plants. This position requires a solid understanding of automated equipment, precision instrumentation, and industry-specific quality and safety regulations (GMP, FDA, ISO 22000). It also requires availability for international travel and advanced English proficiency to collaborate with global teams and participate in the implementation of new projects and technologies.

Principle functions.

  • Identification of defects and correction of the same.
  • Failure analysis using methodologies (5W, Ishikawa).
  • Assist with specific problems on production lines, perform diagnosis, problem-solving, and PM CARD reporting.
  • Preparation of Job Aids, PSG, work instructions.
  • Generation of Centerlines.
  • Provide support in generating action plans in conjunction with the PE.
  • Regulatory compliance and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Electromechanical Equipment Maintenance:
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and automated equipment used in pharmaceutical and food production, ensuring proper functionality.
    • Diagnose electromechanical failures in equipment such as motors, pumps, PLC control systems, sensors, and HVAC systems.
    • Use tools and measuring equipment to ensure that equipment meets safety and quality operational standards.
  • Equipment Installation and Configuration:
    • Participate in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new equipment and production lines, ensuring alignment with quality and safety regulations.
    • Collaborate with project engineers to ensure proper installation and configuration of electrical and mechanical systems in the plants.
  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and minimize downtime through operational data analysis and adjusting equipment parameters.
    • Implement continuous improvement solutions using failure analysis tools (Root Cause Analysis) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, such as GMP, FDA, ISO 9001, and food safety standards like ISO 22000 and HACCP.
    • Maintain detailed maintenance records and ensure all procedures comply with local and international regulatory standards.
  • Programming and Automation:
    • Program and adjust programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems, improving response times and ensuring precision in production processes.
    • Make adjustments to SCADA and HMI systems to ensure real-time equipment monitoring and control.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications to equipment, keeping updated electronic records and ensuring traceability.
    • Prepare technical reports for management and international teams in English, detailing equipment status and recommendations for improvements or additional repairs.
  • Training and International Collaboration:
    • Train operational and maintenance staff in the proper use and maintenance of equipment, ensuring understanding and application of safety and quality standards.
    • Collaborate with international teams on the implementation of new technological improvement projects or expansion of production lines.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Technician in Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
    • Certifications in industrial maintenance, PLC controllers, or automation systems (desirable).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electromechanical maintenance in pharmaceutical and/or food industry plants.
    • Experience in handling automated equipment, production machinery, and control systems.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Solid knowledge of industrial electricity, mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
    • Skills in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and automatic control systems.
    • Familiarity with industry-specific safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000).
    • Proficient in using precision measurement tools and equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure, and temperature sensors).
    • Compliance with internal and customer safety and quality regulations.
    • Ability to identify failure modes in equipment, propose improvements, solutions, and implement them.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent electromechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Customer satisfaction with the quality of maintenance service. Response times for failures and electromechanical repairs.
    • Proactivity and decision-making.
    • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations in the plant.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, especially for collaboration with multidisciplinary and international teams.
    • Teamwork with Production Engineers (PE) and plant team.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to work in the USA without sponsorship (if applicable).
    • Availability for international travel (up to 30%-50% of the time).
    • Advanced English proficiency (oral and written).
