Summary

ICNA Relief’s Refugee Program is designed to rebuild, empower, and transition refugees by providing caring and compassionate service to victims of adversities and survivors of disasters. It is our goal at ICNA Relief to transition refugee families into resettlement and establishing a comfortable lifestyle in American society. ICNA Relief helps refugees and other newcomers achieve self-sufficiency and become contributing members of American society.

Reporting to the Director for Refugee Facilitation, the Resettlement Case Manager provides case management services to the newly arriving refugees being received by ICNA Relief’s Reception and Placement and Matching Grant Programs. The Case Manager will ensure eligible clients are enrolled in appropriate programs, provide core services, and meet the requirements of the program(s) in the required time. The Case Manager is to support refugee families transition in their new communities and to achieve self-sufficiency through the Reception and Placement and Matching Grant Programs.

Resettlement Case Manager Duties will include but not limited to

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • This role will provide resettlement case management for approximately 150 clients per year.
  • Completes core services as outlined in the R&P Cooperative Agreement.
  • Develop a unique and individualized service plan with newly arrived refugees to achieve self-sufficiency through Reception and Placement and Matching Grant.
  • Assist with applications for Social Security card, medical benefits, food assistance and other applicable supports.
  • Assists in the enrollment of refugee children in appropriate school and educational programs, as applicable.
  • Conducts all services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, according to contract guidelines and/or agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the U.S. refugee resettlement program including benefits and services refugees and other ORR eligible populations qualify for.
  • Document all services provided in files and case notes, as required by program guidelines.
  • Advocates on behalf of the clients as necessary throughout the community.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Social Work or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in refugee resettlement, case management and/or community services preferred.
  • Familiarity with the needs of refugees and other vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in English required, and fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is preferred (including but not limited to: Arabic, Burmese, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Pashto, Swahili).
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some late nights and weekends.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high level of self-motivation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience using databases and information gathering systems.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients.

Required Skills/Competencies: Ability to

  • Communicate effectively with other clients, other volunteer agencies, government agencies, employees, and community members
  • Perform data entry and maintain required documentation.
  • Comprehend and interpret documents such as refugee settlement, program management, compliance and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions from policy and procedure manuals
  • Provide data to prepare regular reports
  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and good communication skills to interact effectively with the clients.
  • Apply common sense to carry out multiple tasks and following instructions
  • Prioritize and complete work on time
  • Resolve problems and temporary issues related to the social service operations
  • Appreciate diverse team and work as a team player.
  • Always maintain confidentiality
  • Be organized and flexible under pressure.
  • Partake in problem solving situations.

Expected Hours of Work:

Employee must be available during the “core” work hours starting from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain a full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Work Authorization:

The candidate desiring to be hired by ICNA Relief must have a legal status, social security number and work authorization by the relevant US authorities. The candidate by virtue of applying for this position authorizes ICNA Relief for his/her Background Check, reference check and a Medical Exam on need basis.

Travel Requirements:

ICNA Relief is a national organization with operations across various states, therefore the candidate must be willing and prepared to travel for official work/assignment at a 24-hour notice.

ICNA Relief is a faith-based not-for-profit organization, and our services are made possible through contributions from donors and volunteers who need to be approached and engaged at all times. As employees of ICNA Relief you may be required, at times, to drive the organizations’ vehicle and are hence required to have a clean traffic record with no outstanding citations as you will be representing ICNA Relief.

Mandatory Training

Upon joining ICNA Relief the candidate will be expected to successfully complete the mandatory training required of all employees of ICNA Relief such as HIPAA Rules & Regulations, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Health, and Environmental protection.
