POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of a Food Runner are to assist our service staff in delivering uncompromising hospitality, ensuring our guests have an excellent dining experience. This role involves delivering food and beverages, describing items, replenishing supplies, and acting as a liaison between the FOH and BOH staff.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Ensure that dining room table configuration is set to standards.
  • Ensure food is delivered promptly to any seated guests in the dining room/patio/bar.
  • Deliver and describe food and beverages, knowing how each item is presented to assure proper delivery to the table.
  • Collaborate with bartenders, barbacks, and kitchen staff to respond to customer requests promptly.
  • Provide friendly and attentive service to guests.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests in a polite and helpful manner.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays.
  • Fill beverage and ice dispensers.
  • Restock utensils, napkins, and other dining room necessities.
  • Keep wait stations clean, set up, and take down stations appropriately.
  • Wipe tables and seats per protocol.
  • Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to designated areas.
  • Clean up work areas, tables, spilled food, drinks, and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash.
  • Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in dining rooms to facilitate customer service.
  • Clear and reset tables promptly after guests leave.
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings.
  • Promptly report all maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, dealing with high-end customers.
  • Adhere to all state and federal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol.
  • Adhere to all Health Department requirements.
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the company to operate the business efficiently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to hear effectively to take a guest order in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to speak and write down specials, menu items, and ask questions to verify orders.
  • Ability to type and tap keys to complete point of service sales.
  • Ability to make change and calculate tickets manually if necessary.
  • Ability to walk/stand up 100% of the time.
  • Ability to grasp, hold, set down, redirect materials, turn, control, and manipulate objects with hands.
  • Ability to use body parts, arms, hands, shoulders, and back to elevate an object above its previous surface level and lift up to 50 pounds waist high and up to 20 pounds overhead.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, carry, push, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and continually; must be able to stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.
  • Ability to climb steps, ladders, and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level.
  • Ability to use body parts regularly and continually to repeat the same motions for a reasonable period without resting.
  • Ability to tolerate and hear high levels of noise according to industry standards and the work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum one year of high-volume experience, preferably in hotels or restaurants.
  • Exceptional guest service skills.
  • Must be able to work without close supervision.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant.
