POSITION PURPOSE:

Sets-up, operates, and verifies the quality of work on a wide variety of CNC Lathe machines. Collaborates wiht department team and programming engineers for new processes and challenging setups. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Performs complex set-ups, with minimal supervision, on a wide variety of CNC machines in a manner, which will ensure accurate and precise compliance with design and quality standards.
  • Monitors variations in sequence, e.g., positioning, cycle time, etc., and makes necessary corrections.
  • Works from drawings and/or specifications with minimal direction from Team Leader.
  • Troubleshoots complex machining job problems without supervision.
  • Runs production and deburrs parts as required.
  • Edits programs for CNC machines.
  • Ability to write long-hand basic programs for quick turn around projects and/or work holding.
  • Help determine best machining process.
  • Select and align tooling, fixtures, and attachments for machining.
  • Adjust machine to produce a conforming product.
  • Perform in-process inspection of own work while running machine.
  • Complete required paperwork and keep material and paperwork organized.
  • collaborate with and support other employees in department.
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely and complies with all established safety rules and work practices.
  • Keeps Team Leader informed of job, machine, and equipment related problems as well as any other information related to work activity.
  • Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Conform to the company quality system as documented.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school education or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of Vo-Tech training in machine tool technology or a related area or equivalent.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years machine set-up and operating experience in a job shop environment.

SKILLS ABILITIES: Very strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 25 - 30 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
