The PET Plant Trainer reports to the PET Plant Manager.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
River Parishes Community College has a fully operational glycol processing unit that serves as a Process Equipment Trainer (PET) for students and industry partners. The PET Plant Trainer is responsible for the coordination of academic and workforce training experiences, within the PET Plant, to build an environment conducive to learning in accordance with RPCC’s mission and goals. The operator/instructor is responsible for communicating the department’s needs to RPCC administration and communicating the college’s policies and administrative procedures to the department faculty. Candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the function of all processing disciplines, crafts, and workforce training initiatives.
JOB DUTIES:
- Effectively present and teach accurate, applicable information, to multiple students and instructors at various skill levels in classroom and field settings.
- Ability to read, understand, and make redline changes to process drawings as required.
- Coordinate training initiatives and prepare the PET Plant for a safe training environment.
- Coordinate the preparation of classes and schedules for each course to align the availability of the learning laboratory, PET plant, and classroom space.
- Manage PET plant training calendars to accommodate academic and workforce customers.
- Manage PET plant safety program daily.
- Lead, organize, and facilitate all operational field exercises and activities as required.
- Read, understand, and make redline changes to process drawings as required.
- Create and follow Operating Procedures accurately as required.
- Maintain daily plant operations and maintenance needs as required.
- Maintain Inventory
- Assists in keeping records for credentials and certificates.
- Assist the faculty in the formal evaluation of lab curriculum and programs through the program review process established by the college.
- Assist and support faculty in the organization of program advisory committee meetings.
- Address student and faculty concerns, complaints, and grievances on PET Plant operations.
- Research and keep abreast of current trends in all discipline areas to ensure growth and PET Plant expansion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- AAS in Technical Disciplines or Equivalent Experience
- Experience in Process Technology; minimum of 10 years.
- Proficient using MS Office Suite, including Excel.
- Possess the ability to make quality decisions based on desired outcomes and appropriate considerations.
- Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Anticipates challenges or constraints to progress and takes action to eliminate them.
- Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
- Ability to perform work while wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hats, safety footwear, etc.
