The Urology Group is searching for an Interventional Radiology Tech to work full time, 40 hours /week , Monday-Friday in Norwood, OH.

The primary role of the Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is to perform as the first surgical

assist during Interventional Procedures. The IR Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical

team and provides quality care to our patients.


Duties:

  • Performs sterile preparation of access sites including, but not limited to; femoral access, jugular access,radial access, abdominal procedures and biopsies.
  • Manages all sharps, wires, catheters, and ancillary devices during the procedures with the physician.This includes preparation of devices before use in the patient, loading of catheters and wires, and assisting during arterial closure.
  • Transports patient to and from holding area to the operative suite.
  • Sterile preparation on the operative tray including handling and preparation of all medical devices and supplies.
  • Operation of the angiography and ultrasound equipment. To include positioning, troubleshooting, and patient demographic entry.
  • Responsible for image and data transfer to PACS. Daily verification of image transfer and proper case documentation.
  • Performs according to principles of radiation safety (ALARA training by PCU) and documents radiation dose and fluoroscopy time in procedural logbook.
  • Maintains lead protective equipment cleanliness and radiation badge monitoring.
  • Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies according to procedures.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of rooms, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Supports and adheres to all company and Surgery Center policies and procedures, Codes of Conduct, Ethics, Compliance, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Keeps management informed of any malfunctions in instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the disposal of hazardous waste according to OSHA standards.

Requirements:

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • License and certification as required by state.
  • Valid ARRT Certification in Radiography.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.


KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of routine to complex Radiologic procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinics functions.
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
  • Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to assist patients for transfer from stretcher, wheelchair or in an emergency situation.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to make decisive judgment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and family.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness with ability to monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree in Radiography.
  • Graduate of Accredited school of Radiologic Technology.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 1 year of Interventional Radiologic Technologist experience required; urology experience strongly preferred.
