Job descriptions:
A Sr Elevator Inspector will be responsible for conducting inspections of elevators, escalators, wheelchair lifts, dumbwaiters, and other lifting equipment to ensure they comply with relevant building and safety codes, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of elevator machinery, hoist ways, control systems, safety devices, and passenger compartments.
- Identify potential safety hazards and code violations.
- Issue inspection reports detailing findings, recommendations for repairs or replacements, and compliance status.
- Witness and document elevator and escalator modification, modernization, and repair work.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant codes and regulations, including updates to ASME A17.1/CSA B44 standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections conducted.
- Communicate effectively with building owners, managers, and contractors.
- May collaborate with engineers or other inspectors on complex projects.
Requirements:
- Valid QEI certification (specific requirements may vary by state or jurisdiction).
- Experience in the elevator industry is a plus (e.g., elevator mechanic, technician, inspector trainee).
- Strong understanding of elevator/escalator mechanics, safety systems, and codes.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
