Medical Physicist Compensation

  • The pay for this position is $120.00/hr
  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.

Medical Physicist Highlights

·         Shift: Typically, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, but may flex based on patient census and treatment requirements.

·         Weekend Rotation: Not likely, except for severe machine issues/repairs

·         On-Call: Not applicable

Medical Physicist Responsibilities

·         Primarily and professionally engaged in the evaluation, delivery, and optimization of therapeutic applications of ionizing radiation and the associated equipment.

·         Role involves both clinical and educational components.

·         Performs radiation safety duties to ensure regulatory compliance and the safe use of ionizing radiation.

·         Calibrations, quality assurance, monitoring, acceptance testing, and commissioning for all radiation oncology simulation, planning, and treatment equipment.

·         Oversees maintenance and repairs of simulation and radiation treatment units.

·         Responsible for releasing machines for sale or clinical use following service and ensuring they meet safety standards.

·         Reviews treatment plan calculations and data input into records and verifies system accuracy as performed by physics and technical employees.

·         Performs and oversees external beam and brachytherapy treatment plans.

·         Works closely with radiation oncologists and dosimetrists to provide consultation on treatment techniques aimed at optimizing radiation dose distribution for patients.

·         Evaluates and/or implements new programs and treatment techniques for radiation oncology.

Medical Physicist Required Skills & Experience:

  • ABR or ABMP certification
  • Masters or PhD in Medical Physics (preferred)
