Sheet Fed Pressman Job Description

Setup, Run and Maintain a commercial sheet-fed printing press,

Be familiar with inks and aqueous coatings and procedures to follow when using.

Read and follow instructions on job ticket, Quantity, check to see if correct stock is being used, special inks and colors to produce job to customer expectations.

Hang plates, check layout and imposition to assure the job can be finished and/or bound correctly.

Set and hold ink and water balance using scanning densitometers to assist in quality control, must be able to achieve and hold color without densitometers if necessary.

Monitor running job for imperfections, hickeys, dry-ups, misregister, color change, plate defects, blanket problems etc.

Must be mechanically inclined to make necessary repairs and adjustments as needed, set and change rollers, blankets, run feeder and delivery, and do necessary maintenance.

Use various chemicals to clean press when needed, keep a neat and orderly workstation.

Able to work with 2nd pressman\operator to assist pressman as needed.

Able to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for an 8-hour shift.
